BRG reports 11% increase in first quarter profits
Berger Paints Jamaica Ltd. (BRG) for the three months ended June 30, 2017, recorded sales (net of discounts and rebates) in the amount of $454.55 million, a decrease of 10% when compared to that recorded for the comparable period the year prior (2016: $506.18 million). Berger attributed the decline in sales to, “the impact of local cement shortages and adverse weather conditions during the quarter.” Profit from operations rose 11% to $31.22 million, relative to $28.22 million recorded for the first quarter of 2016. SJ increases net profit by 31% for 6 months ended June 2017
Total Revenues increased by 5% to $30.36 billion from $29 billion in 2016, while for the second quarter Total Revenues were down 1% to total 15.09 billion compared to 15.29 billion in 2016.Total revenue was broken down as follows: Net premium revenue increased by 12% to a total of $17.41 billion compared to $15.61 billion last year. Net Investment Income declined to $8.96 billion from $10.05 billion in 2016, an 11% decline. Fees and other revenue increased 19% to $3.99 billion from $3.34 billion in 2016.
